February Wine on the Water Events
We hope your new year is off to a wonderful start! January, with its chilly winds and fresh resolutions, was a time of reflection and planning here at the shop. We were busy tasting and selecting incredible wines from around the world, organizing our monthly tastings, and dreaming up a few additional wine-centric events. Please follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook to stay up to date on the exciting gatherings coming in the next few months.
And now, with the new year underway, we’re thrilled to restart our Wine On The Water Wednesday wine tastings and welcome you back for another season of great bottles, good company, and delicious discoveries. Our first tasting of 2026 is coming up on Wednesday, February 4th, and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ll be welcoming our dear friend Damian Priday, along with a lineup of beautiful Spanish wines that venture a bit off the beaten path while honoring tradition. As always, we’ll also have a lovely spread of cheese, charcuterie, and canapés.
February 4 ~ Hidden Gems of Spain:

Boal De Arousta, Albariño
This crisp, aromatic white is made from Albariño grapes grown in the decomposed granite and quartz soils of a single parcel located just a few meters from the Atlantic coast. While the grape itself is accessible enough, this particular selection clearly demonstrates the particularity of its provenance as well as the care with which it is made. Bright and charming with plenty of fleshy peach and nectarine, aromas of yellow flowers, and sweet spring herbs. The palate is refreshing and vibrant with a punchy salinity that keeps you going back for more! A dream pairing for oysters, shrimp scampi, grilled fish, or any seafood that loves a little coastal zing.
Cooperativa Cadalso, Granito de Gredos Garnacha
Part of the magic of Grenache is that it expresses differently the world over, and Sierra de Gredos is certainly no exception. This incredible varietal bottling of Grenache is made from old vines growing at high elevation outside of the city of Madrid. Long forgotten, these vineyards have been given new life by talented hands. Wildly expressive on the nose, this gem offers up ample tart red fruit with lovely florals and exotic spices. The true beauty of this wine is its deeply mineral core which, in conjunction with the kicked up aromatics, yields a refreshing experience that is at once heady and grounded. You might never quite recover from this one. Perfect alongside roasted lamb, grilled vegetables, manchego, or a spread of classic Spanish tapas.
Olivier Riviére, Rayos Uva
We all think we know Rioja is a monolith until we encounter a wine like this. Free of the prominent oak notes that we often associate with Rioja, this blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano presents as sublimely lithe and elegant. It is well-balanced, with fine and persistent tannins, juicy fruit components, and lovely florals. A wonderfully vibrant food wine that can be celebrated all year long! An ideal companion for charcuterie, roasted pork, paella, mushroom dishes, or aged Spanish cheeses.
Vega Tolosa, 11 Pinos Bobal
This magical little number is made exclusively from Bobal, a thick-skinned grape native to Spain’s southeast. Though it has a long and productive history, it is only in recent years that a few producers have begun to explore its vast potential. Dense and chewy with aromas of candied violet, black and red fruit, and an interestingly savory note of fine balsamic. Remarkably refreshing for a wine of this depth, we can’t wait for you to taste this! A fantastic match for grilled sausages, smoky barbecue, braised meats, or hearty tomato-based stews.
February 11 ~ "Love Is Blind" Tasting

On Wednesday, February 11th from 4:30-6:30 we will be holding a special Wine On The Water tasting, our annual “Love is Blind” tasting with the wonderful Sarah Dillon, one of our favorite wine partners! We will be blind tasting a few classic varieties and nibbling on some delicious light bites. Join us for a fun and lighthearted evening of sussing out just what it is in the glass!
We’re so grateful for a fantastic 2025 with you and we look forward to being a small part of your celebrations throughout the year ahead. As always, we continue to curate our wine collection to reflect our amazing community and we hope that you will come by soon to see what’s new!
Cheers!
